Experiment

So I'm going to experiment a little and try being a vegetarian for a month starting today. I'm doing this to test my self-discipline as well as to see if I notice any positive effects in my body. I might have to have a couple cheat days where I'll probably just splurge on some chicken maybe, especially with 4th of July coming up. But all in all I think that I will be able to complete my goal for the most part. Hopefully I'll notice some change in my physical appearance as well as my over all health. I've talked to a couple of friends about it who are vegetarians/vegans and they say they feel much better after having made the switch. The one thing I have noticed so far is that I have to eat a lot more and am hungry all the time, but I guess that isn't really a change for me anyway! But seriously, I hope I have the discipline and self-control to be able to complete this. It will be an accomplishment I can feel good about knowing that I have the power to control what I want and not be overcome by cravings.

Sugar Free

So I've essentially cut sugar out everything I drink, save a couple gatorades here and there. Its been one month now, can't say that I really notice anything different, but I'm terrible at noticing gradual changes in my body. I plan to keep it up, I don't really have the cravings any more, so that sure makes it easier. More dietary changes to follow, plan to start on Sunday.

Inspire

Have you ever met someone that in a short while had a profound impact on your life? I guess I'll dedicate this post that person, since they were sort of my inspiration to start this blog. Maybe profound is too strong a word, but I've been impacted nonetheless. It is nice to meet someone with a fresh outlook on life, one that makes you rethink your own lot in life. Not that I'm completely changed or anything, but I do view some things differently. Its nice to have a fresh perspective on some things. Also a good music recommendation has urged me to go back and revisit some of my old cd's, I had forgotten how good they were. So here's to you, my next drink I'll have to say a silent toast in your honor. I would have liked to get to know you better, but things don't always work out the way you want unfortunately.

Alcohol

Hmm, considering whether or not to quit drinking. I love relaxing with a beer, and drinking to excess is always fun, until the next day of course. Just have to think about if I feel it is worth it anymore. Maybe I'll just quit for a little while.

Ms. California

So the whole gay marriage issue going on in California has been plaguing my news feed for a few weeks now. Is it just me or does anyone else not care what Ms. California thinks? I mean seriously, leaver her alone, why does what she thinks matter to anyone? They point out that she has the same stance as the president but no one says a thing about him and the issue. People just need an enemy or they feel like they aren't being heard and no one cares. I personally don't care if gays get married or not, it literally has no effect on my life at all. If two people want to be together and care for each other they should be allowed to and have the same benefits as every one else. I just don't care for the way they go about getting their rights by attacking and destroying other people's reputations for their own gain. If you want people to understand your side you need to do it by showing how good of a person you are and how it would make your life better. Attacking people sure won't get them to change their views. I also believe in democracy, that it should be left up to the people to decide. When you look back through history there is no one clear definition of marriage, it has always been whatever a society defines it as. Sure it sucks for you that most people don't agree with gays getting married, but you really got to tone down things like what happened in California. They finally got their wish and she was fired, just to be replaced by someone with the exact same beliefs, some progress there. As for the other side, I used to be with you, but I came to the conclusion that we only have so long on this world, so why not live the way you want, with out someone else having to validate your way of life. Does gays getting married some how invalidate your marriage? Keep your traditions in your religion, I would never impose this on a religion, would be kind of pointless seeing as how people can believe what they want when it comes to faith. But when it comes to governmental recognition I see no problem with gays getting hitched. Well, just had to throw my two cents out there, rant over. Just tired of seeing these stupid head lines every day. There is so much more important things going on in the world!

Iran

I guess my first post will be about what has been dominating the news lately: elections in Iran. I myself am surprised that other people really expected Mousavi to win, the whole thing was a sham to begin with. What do you expect when you have an unelected supreme leader? It will be interesting to see what unfolds from all of this. I'm too lazy to research this topic at the moment, seeing as how late it is, but I'll maybe get around to it tomorrow to satiate my inquisitive nature. I think it is funny that a lot of people equated the reform candidate to be Iran's "Obama." From what I've heard he was the one who started their nuclear program in the first place. Just another thing to look up when I get the chance. Another current event bouncing around in my head is the all the gobbledygook going on in California with all the pageant bs, more to come on that later.
